The Psychology of Showing Courage on Social Media

When I see entrepreneurs creating video content or Instagram stories for the first time, they are very nervous. They don’t like how they look on camera. They cringe listening to their own voice. They get weirded out with the experience of holding a phone and speaking to themselves. 😨

Do you know why this happens?

When we try to change our lifestyle even a little bit, we find it extremely inconvenient. We think that the lifestyle we have now is the most practical one. We want to leave things as they are.

By choosing to market ourselves on Instagram, creating content and showing up consistently, we are putting our great courage to the test. 😩

There is the anxiety generated by being visible online and creating content for that specific purpose.

There’s also the anxiety of adding this new routine into your business. You feel you are not ready yet and there is so much happening in your business already that needs your attention!

How can you even begin to think about Instagram visibility?

But is that the real reason?

I know some entrepreneurs who are thought-leaders, deep thinkers and have such incredible personalities 💪 and they are already known for that in their network.

Their stories and their journey are worth sharing and they are constantly being told that they should write books, deliver webinars, and start speaking up and sharing their story. 🔮

It’s not true that you lack competence. You know that. By intentionally choosing to not be present on social media, you are leaving opportunity on the table. You are stopping people who would love to become your client from seeing you and being able to buy into your products and services.

If you are a changemaker at your heart and you are keen to start sharing your larger purpose with the world, you will have to put one foot forward and stop keeping your business small. 💸 💸
